Our goal is to provide an open and nurturing environment for children, youth and adults; to foster the search for personal truths, to guide spiritual and ethical development, and to teach and live Unitarian-Universalism, recognizing that religious education is a life-long journey...
Sunday Curriculum
Time for All Ages
Children and youth begin each Sunday in the service with the adults, and then may leave at the appropriate time to participate in the kids program for that day.
0 to 3 years old
Child care is provided for the youngest among us.
The Early Elementary Group
Around the Church, Around the Year
This is designed to help younger children feel part of the Unitarian-Universalist community. The program also focuses on the children's own experiences with life, death, the environment, human relationships and personal identity (not as abstract concepts, but in ways appropriate to their young lives).
The Older Elementary/Middle School Group
A Stepping Stone Year
The kids will learn about their Unitarian-Universalist heritage. This program features myths & tales from many ages & cultures. They also have units on science and decision-making.
Teaching and supervision
Our Teachers
Our teachers volunteer their time to work with and listen to our children and youth. We encourage you to support our teachers in any way you can. Please share with them any special needs or insights about your kids and feel free to ask them any questions or make any comments about our program.
Supervision of Youth
Register youth for the program at our R.E. registration table or our greeters’ table. There is no registration fee, but all families are expected to support the program financially through their pledge.
Safe Congregation Policy
We follow a policy of safeguards to ensure that all contact between our adults, child care providers and youth in our congregation is appropriate. Please read the guidelines you receive when you register your youth for our program.
Leadership and community involvement
Scholarships for Leadership Training
Thanks to the extra financial support of some of our members we can now offer some leadership training scholarships to our children and youth to help with the cost of attending UU youth camps or other events. Ask us about it!
Adult Involvement in Religious Education Programs
Our programs for kids depend on the help of the entire Onion community. Get involved, teaching or assisting, leading a field trip, helping with special projects, or contributing your other special skills. Please talk to a teacher and volunteer!
Registration
Registration started Sept. 9th, 2007. Register your child for the program at our R.E. registration table or our greeters’ table. There is no registration fee, but all families are expected to support the program financially through their pledge.
